Live from the 25th Annual TRENDS Conference and Trade Show

Welcome to PropertyManager.com’s live coverage of the 25th Annual TRENDS Conference and Trade Show. TRENDS, according to the official website, is the largest one-day rental housing management conference and trade show on the West Coast. 200 exhibitors and over 1,500 attendees will be filing into the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle, WA to attend the 2009 TRENDS show. Attendees can choose from 40 educational workshops and hear from outstanding educators such PropertyManager.com contributor Heather Blume and our very own Albert Oaten. See below for live updates.

8:05 AM – The team at CTL Management starts their morning off right with Seattle coffee. It is only about 30 degrees outside!

8:14 AM – Everyone is in the holiday spirit.

8:16 AM – Ellen Weber of Kalles Properties mans the NARPM booth. This is her second year of doing the booth and she was here at 4 AM. Such dedication.

8:25 AM – Albert presents Internet marketing ideas to a packed house. There are property managers who manage single family homes, apartments or a combination – lots to cover in just 45 mins.

8:42 AM – Albert talks about the importance of using local search engines like Google Local Business Center and Yahoo! Local to attract both residents and owners.

9:17 AM – Barry Blanton, the Seattle IREM chapter president, prepares for his talk on the Seattle market and expectations over the next 18-24 months.

8:28 AM – Christine Cook from Shaw Industries – flooring manufacturers and now generous free latte givers!

10:08 AM – Holly and Alice from the Rental Housing Association of Puget Sound recruiting new association members.

10:11 AM – Carla from move.com shows her holiday spirit.

10:13 AM – Bill Gaul, the Northwest field for Keytrack – a turnkey (no pun intended) solution for key management. They have candy canes! Later coming…Red Vines!

11:22 AM – Heather Blume visits with Tara Hooper at the Washington Multifamily Housing Association booth. Great educational content coming from WMFHA this year.

12:16 PM – Linn and Aimee with ferns in AppFolio’s booth. They said they’re decorating with redwoods next year!

12:34 PM – Jodie, Barb and Yolanda took Albert’s Internet Marketing Class and Jeane’s Closing Class and loved both of them! They are looking forward to a class on Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll! They love rock ‘n’ roll!

1:18 PM – Zach from Pacific West Construction and Maintenance tries to win a bottle of wine from the team at LTS!

2:32 PM – Networking on the TRENDS Trade Show floor.

2:34 PM – Who doesn’t want a golf cart?

2:39 PM – Angela from Ballard Realty learns about ways to make posting to Craigslist easier.

3:04 PM – Tami and Rhonda make a great team presenting Moco’s online tenant screening service. Their newest service allows tenant’s screening reports to be portable so that they only have to pay once for screening!

4:03 PM – Vickie Gaskill, the 2010 NARPM president shares secrets of budgeting for property managers. This is the last session of the day. Next comes the raffle for cash to close out the day.
