Indoor Garage in SoHo Turned Into Luxury Apartments

$6500 for a 1-bedroom apartment in what used to be an indoor parking garage! The apartments do sound amazing – much larger than the traditional NYC apartment and many have terraces, large glass windows and 10-foot ceilings. Even a few of the bathrooms come with a view of the Empire State Building. Once you get to the 2-bedroom apartments, the rents start at $12K/month and $18K/month for the 3 bed-room units.
The historic Tunnel Garage was built in 1922 to prepare for (what they expected) would be a large amount of cars coming across the Holland Tunnel from New Jersey. This was New York’s first purpose-built indoor garage and until this time most of the garages were converted horse stables.
Even if you aren’t in the market for these pricey lofts, check out the photos.
