In this fast-paced, information-overloaded age that we live in, it’s more important than ever to know where to go for answers, help and solutions for your property management career. That’s why this site has grown more popular with each passing year. Did you know that right here at you can download free eBooks on timely topics like going paperless and how to manage your “online reputation” as a property manager. When you carefully scan the Home Page you’ll find all kinds of freebies like free web seminars and free online rental applications.

You can even download a “social resident info graphic” that can help you learn how to receive more feedback and positive comments from your residents. Many property managers still haven’t learned how to capitalize on the benefits of social networking on the worldwide web. No problem! Right here, thanks to Aimee Miller, you can find out for free the possibilities with a great visual representation of the social media trends and how to connect with your own “Social Residents.”

As the school year gets into full swing and the leasing season slows down, now’s a good time to learn valuable tips on improving the amount of qualified renters and leasing business you can attract. “Tips to Soar this Leasing Season” is a free webinar recap that’s waiting for you to enjoy and profit from. My point is that sometimes the best sources of information are right at our finger tips or under our noses and articles like this help light the way. One helpful suggestion, one referral to a reservoir of pertinent information, and suddenly we have the chance to lift our performance and results to new levels.

That’s why I wanted to make sure you knew about the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). If you take a little time to familiarize yourself with this organization and their website, you’ll be giving yourself a promotion That’s because IREM is an international community of real estate managers that includes all property categories and that’s “…dedicated to ethical business practices and maximizing the value of investment real estate.” None of us know too much about ethical business practices and how to maximize our own value as an investment real estate specialist.

IREM has credentialed membership programs and a professional development program that covers every conceivable subject in our industry. This isn’t just about filling your head with more information. It’s about improving your image, your confidence and building on your self-esteem. Sometimes we are so busy making a living that we don’t take the time to hone our skills and consider the advantages of adding a credential like Certified Property Manager after our name. Self-improvement has many rewards and advantages.

Did you know that 70% of those who hold the CPM designation also hold the highest management positions (owner/partner or officer/director) than those without the designation? No wonder on average those with the CPM designation earn a significantly higher income as well. Were you aware that IREM has publications, books, courses, local chapters and all kinds of connections that we might not have known existed? Just learning about them and the advantages of becoming an IREM member (the member benefits and services) gave me some great ideas about how to improve the scope of our property management skills and knowledge.

There are too many sources of good information and education for property managers for just one article. This should whet your appetite and hopefully open some windows of awareness. Stay tuned for future articles, and if you haven’t done so already, check out our “Best of” articles section to see what you may have been missing… right at your finger tips.
